On the 20th November 2014., the Institute for Islamic Tradition of Bosniaks in cooperation with BZK Preporod have organized a program to mark the 100th anniversary of the enthronement of the Grand Mufti Mehmed Jamaluddin Čaušević.
One of the aims of the Institute for Islamic Tradition of Bosniaks is to preserve the memories of the leaders of Bosniaks and their contribution to Islamic and other sciences. In this context, by marking the 100th anniversary of the enthronement of the Grand Mufti Mehmed Jamaluddin Čaušević the Institute seeked to remind the public of his reformist thought, intellectual movements and his role in the socio-political developments in the Balkans. The lectures about Čaušević’s intellectual legacy were delivered by academician prof. dr. Enes Karić, prof. dr. Adnan Jahić and prof. dr. Senadin Lavić.
The current Grand Mufti of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Husein rf. Kvazović have opened the program saying that the Grand Mufti Čušević is one of the most important figures in the history of Islamic community.
Moreover, the Institute have used this opportunity to present for the first time to the public the authentic imperial decree issued by the Austro-Hungarian emperor in 1914 which officially naminated Mehmed J. Čausević as a new Grand Mufti of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which Reis’s grandson, Mr. Sedad Mulalić, borrowed to the Institute. Besides the imperial decree, the public had the opportunity to see up close many other authentic awards and honours given to him during his lifetime and after his death.
Reis Čausević is known as a big supporter of education, a promoter of tolerance and equal position of women in society primarily through their education and participation in public life.
